  1. When I get a Dishys, I'm thinking a regular rubdown with spray lemon wax will keep it clean.
  2. Will the third generation Dishy terminal only run on AC mains or can it run off 12 volts for better off grid use?
  3. Some of us are hoping for smaller wattage. It might take some doing for Starlink as Tesla builds gigantic solar panel kits and cars you can't let the valet attendant park. My panels deliver 483 watts and my sensible night storage is 60 amp hours. 90 watts continuous is around 20 dollars a month for the Con Ed collection plate. It takes a lot of juice to woo a satellite.
  4. I read somewhere that there will be Starlink satellites that pass bandwidth to other satellites, so we don't have to be close to the uplinks. That sounds like how Pitcairn and Midway will get their juice. I predict that the current Starlink is only the first baby steps to something stellar.
  5. Can I expand this question? What kind of wifi would connect your Starlink for a mile radius and unchain you from a few rooms. Can this device be powered off 12 volts ?
  6. If you need to carve rubber or plastic blocks for the roof, use a Stanley Sureform.
  7. When I'm faced with a roof peak install, I'll reach for the original tri leg and a homemade adapter. On a roof, you want something light, simple, and sturdy.
  8. If you need to remove the cable, tie waxed cord to the plug end and pull the cable free. When it's time to put the cable back, the cord should easily renew the cable without snagging.
  9. The more I watch Crosstalk Connections episodes, the less I understand networking. I hear topics like speed, security, and technical details, but no basics. Learn the principle and you will master the details.
  10. Read slower. It's in the app. The dishy is really a small moving antenna. When you find your sky view is subpar, the question becomes how do you mount it higher properly.
  11. Newbie, I found that if you run any Ethernet or wifi cables outdoors, you have to loose sheath them from rain and dew or they will deteriorate from the inside out. Don't paint them with any vinyl or silicone product. This will only trap water inside. I've read that not all networking products work with the Starlink.
  12. Let's get back on track. Wifi without password is faster, less troublesome, desirable, and more secure. The questions are about the original supplied wifi. 1. Can it run without a password? 2. Can you turn off the radio signal (and would this be any advantage over removing the wifi and just using a cat5?
  13. If a Starlink kit is purchased used, can it be activated in the same manner as a new purchase?
  14. Is there a way or trick to keep the dishy cool when the thermometer peaks? Should you lubricate the swivel gears?
  15. .....and can you turn off the wifi when using just an Ethernet line?
  16. Lotsa choices in any auto parts store.
  17. 1. Can I run the wifi open without a password ? 2. Can the wifi signal be turned off while just using ethernet bandwidth? 3. If the factory wifi isn't used, can the kit be configured without it?
