jackel61
I would have searched if I could find the search function. I want to know how to edit my home city in Deming NM for my IP. Instead, it shows me being in Denver Colorado, this is causing a big problem doing any type of searches. Anytime I use the term, find near me, it shows results for the Denver area. This is extremely frustrating. Will someone please be kind enough to share the fix with me? If we ever meet after the fix, I'd be happy to buy you a cup of coffee and a bagel or donut. lol...
RicochetStarlink
@jackel61 To my knowledge, there is nothing you can do short of turning on Location services on your devices. Even that might not work in all cases. This occurs because Starlink satellites connect to a ground station to get your traffic onto the Internet. Those ground stations which are few and far between are responsible for assigning your IP address and the IP address blocks they use are all for the locale of the ground station. There is no way to override this IP address assignment or to influence it to use an IP address that geo-locates to your location. I have had this conversation with Starlink Support and, unless something has changed radically, it's just not possible to change.
Aashvi78
might be the wrong IP address for our city, causing misunderstanding or misidentification. Geo-targeted content or other internet services may be impacted by this disparity. Fixing this problem is essential to ensuring proper functioning and representation.PM kisan status
RicochetStarlink
@Aashvi78, This gets at the very core of Starlink's network design and infrastructure. It isn't going to change any time soon. Feel free to open a ticket with Starlink Support to discuss with them, but when I asked, this is the answer I got.
