Timothy
In late 2021 Starlink engineers said they were working hard on a deep power saving mode to fix the 100 watt 24/7 power usage problem. 1) Have there been any updates? 2) Timeline? If it won't be soon I will need to install 3 or 4 way switches to be able to turn power off/on from both upstairs and downstairs. 3) Are there any known problems with removing power from a Starlink system when not in use? 4) When power is switched back on does Starlink start back up automatically? I live off grid using solar. Please, none of the usual remarks from cheap grid power users that 100 watts 24/7 is not very much.
ProDishy
Turning it off at a set time won't damage the unit however i wouldnt expect the router to last as long due to " chip creep " - its not as common these days but a full time 24/7 router lasts longer staying on than being turned back on every day. - Plenty of IoT relays you could use to cut power to the units PSU/PoE depending on how your doing it. AFAIK - There isnt any power saving features in the pipeline for the router endpoint.
Tim Taler
I would find a timer in the starlink app useful. switch-off times can be set, e.g. over night. My Starlink (V2) power consumption without usage (no device connected) around 60 Watt during summer. At the moment i'm using a timer switch for power socket.
