Speeds slowed down considerably after first week

Recommended Posts

Ok after receiving faulty hardware on the first go round.  Starlink sent a new entire package and that corrected the issues.  I was getting blazing speeds of between 175-195mb downloads. Now after about two weeks my speeds are consistently around 25mb.  Its the same if I test at 6:00am or 7:00pm.  I have rebooted everything and it doesn't change anything.  I have added a mesh system and set the Starlink to bypass mode and still the same.  Im not sure what to expect because I was told I should have 50-75mb speeds at my location.  Thanks.

By whom were you told to expect 50-75Mbps speeds? Starlink Support? Other customers in your immediate area?

What speed test software are you running? Ookla SpeedTest? Something else?

How many devices are connected to your WiFi network?

Do you have other WiFi networks in your home? You'll want to use WiFi scanning software because there could be networks that you aren't even aware of being broadcast by Smart TVs, Printers, wireless cameras, etc.

Do you have several devices connected wirelessly that are near your router?

Do you have separate networks for 5GHz and 2.4GHz (and, if applicable, 6Ghz)? Many devices (e.g., printers, IoT devices, etc.) are only able to connect to a 2.4GHz WiFi network and can create issues when 5GHz and 2.4GHz are served on the same SSID (Network name).

Does the Starlink mobile app report any obstructions? You'd probably have to take the modem out of bypass mode to see this.

What service do you have? Standard? Roam? Priority? Business?

Where are you located? Are you in a remote rural area? Near a large city? Under high-voltage power lines? Near large space telescopes (just kidding... or not...)?

There are sooooo many things that can affect WiFI speeds over Starlink's network. Without more information, it's just impossible to say (a) whether you have a problem and, if so, (b) what the problem is.
