This game is a part of the "2024 UIL Texas Football State Championships - 2024 Football 6-Man 1A D1" tournament. Whiteface won all but three games by mercy rule, including nine of 10 in the regular season. The exception was a 58-38 win over Happy, who reached the second round. The Antelopes' opponent is no surprise. Gordon (14-0) will also try to cap a perfect season Wednesday. The Longhorns were 1A Division I's top-ranked team from wire to wire. In what was viewed as an upset at the time, Gordon knocked off Westbrook 70-20 in last year's state championship. The Longhorns' top players returned, and the results followed. Gordon won its first 13 games via mercy rule before dispatching Abbott 77-36 in the semifinals. The Panthers were ranked No. 2 in the state wire to wire and finished 13-1. The Longhorns' defense has shined, holding nine opponents to eight points or fewer. The team also returned the offensive and defensive championship MVPs from its win over Westbrook in Ry Reed and Kaden Crowe, respectively.
