Backwoods Farmer
My wife had to get permission from her work, she does telenursing from home, before she could use Starlink because of privacy issues and what not. If I add an aftermarket router so I can set up port forwarding for a home LAN game that requires it, will it change the Public IP address and cause an issue connecting to her work? It was a pain getting permission the first time so hoping to avoid that. I have been reading that there is no way to set up port forwarding using the starlink modem, assume that is true still? Thanks for any help in advance.
RicochetStarlink
@Backwoods Farmer, Unless you have a Starlink Business plan, then you do NOT have a static IP address. If you are on the Standard Plan or Roam Plan, the configuration you are contemplating for port forwarding will not likely work because Starlink uses something called CGNAT (Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation). Either way, adding a third-party router will have ZERO effect on your Starlink IP address.
