Addbuyer
Hi folks, I have an existing Ethernet cable that runs within a buried conduit from where the dish will be positioned right down to where the router will stand. This cable route runs through various walls and under concrete floors and was installed when the house was built. To run the actual Starlink cable would be a right pain, surface mounted and left visible 90% of its route. I have seen a video where the Starlink cable was severed a couple of feet from one end to feed it through a wall and then re-joined using RJ45 Ethernet plugs to continue the run. Being as the Starlink cable is just standard CAT 5 or 6 cable, is there such a made up cable tail on the market where one end is the Starlink plug and the other end is an RJ45 plug? so I could use the Ethernet cable within the conduit? I would like to avoid cutting up the provided cable if possible. Thanks
RicochetStarlink
@Addbuyer, I am not aware of any such COTS adapters to adapt the Starlink connectors to RJ-45. Cutting your Starlink Cable will immediately void the warranty on your Starlink Kit. With that being said, you might want to reach out to @engineerinavan. He has experience with installing the Starlink Kit in vehicles using 12v power which almost certainly involves cable mods. Maybe he can provide you with some recommendations. Thanks! Thanks for the reply. I guess I will purchase a short Starlink cable and cut that up and add RJ45 connections to try it out
RicochetStarlink
Actually, you might want to take a look at https://www.amazon.com/Klutchtech-Starlink-Waterproof-Connectors-Accessories/dp/B0CQYR5JWS?th=1 and see if these connectors will meet your needs. I just found these on Amazon this morning. Note that these connectors call for shielded CAT-6a 23AWG cables between your Starlink antenna and router (either Starlink Router or 3rd party router). Hopefully, the buried RJ-45 cable you already have installed meets these specifications. While you might be able to get by with cable the meets a lower specification, for best results, you need to consider this as an important part of your plan.
