JT240Z
I currently have a Mini kit and a Standard kit with the Gen 3 router. Is it possible to connect the Mini dish to the Gen 3 router and use it as a wired mesh? If so, what would the interconnect be? I'm concerned with plugging the Gen 3 router WAN port directly into the Mini ethernet port as I'm not sure that the 57V POE output from the router will damage the Mini dish. StarlinkLeader
I’ve got both a Mini kit and a Standard kit with the Gen 3 router as well, so I looked into this. Unfortunately, you can’t directly connect the Mini dish to the Gen 3 router. The Mini’s Ethernet port is for LAN access, not for feeding its signal into another Starlink router. The Gen 3 router’s WAN port is designed for the Standard dish only, and yes, it does put out ~57 V PoE — plugging that into the Mini could very likely damage it. If you want to mesh them together, the supported way is: Run the Mini with its own router. Run the Standard with the Gen 3 router. Then create a wireless mesh link between them (Starlink calls this “mesh nodes”), or use a third-party Ethernet bridge/mesh system if you need wired interconnects. In short: no safe wired way to hook the Mini’s port into the Gen 3 router WAN. Wireless mesh or external networking gear is the only option. Hope this helps 🙂 Quote Link to comment https://starlinkforum.net/topic/18613-starlink-mini-dish-using-gen-3-router/#findComment-22562 Share on other sites
JT240Z
Got it. I guess I'll just pick up a Router Mini and use that instead. I know the Mini dish supports a wired mesh using it.
