Looking for Guidance on Improving Starlink for Work from Home

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone🤗,

I'm asking for tips from the community on how to make Starlink operate best for remote work. At my home office, which is located in a somewhat rural place, I recently set up Starlink. Even though the connection is usually dependable, I'd appreciate your advice on a few problems I'm having.

Here's a quick rundown of my configuration:

  • Starlink Kit: Router and standard dish
  • Use: Mostly for cloud-based apps, video conferences, and sporadic big file uploads
  • Location: Rural location with unobstructed sky view The main problems I'm having are sporadic latency spikes and decreases during peak hours. Even though I've already done some simple things like making sure there aren't too many obstacles and placing the dish in the best possible spot, the issues still exist.

I have the following specific queries:

Network Optimisation: What configurations or settings for the Starlink router are suggested in order to lower latency and enhance overall performance?🤔

Hardware Upgrades: Would purchasing a mesh system or third-party router aid in establishing a stable connection? Which models, if any, are known to function well with Starlink?🤔

Firmware and Updates: Has Starlink's firmware changed recently to solve any of these problems?🤔

Peak Hour Performance: How may performance declines during peak hours be managed or mitigated?🤔

We would be very grateful for any personal experiences or insights that you might provide. I'm excited to refine my configuration to guarantee a seamless and effective mlops remote work environment.

Thank you 🙏 in advance.
