I've read that if you paid the deposit prior to the equip price hike, you pay only $50 more $549 instead of $599 but my order doesn't show that. I don't see a way to contact them.  I'm signed into the app but it says "You don't have email" and I can find no other way to contact them before ordering. Is ther any recourse?

I paid the $99 deposit on 3/30/2021. At that time, the equipment price was $499. Thirteen months later, on 4/24/2022, (four months before you say you paid your deposit), I placed my order, the price had gone up to $599 for equipment. This has happened to many customers waiting for Starlink and there is, to my knowledge, no discount for having made your reservation prior to any particular date.

You can certainly reach out to Starlink by opening a support ticket in the app. Go to any support topic and view the Starlink answer. Then click on the Thumbs Down icon. A Contact Support dialogue will open allowing you to create a ticket.

Thanks!

Thanks, they said no, it was a “promotion for last year”. I thought the point of a deposit was a commitment but I guess they had some fine print.

Do you know if I can buy a used system and return the new kit, keeping the service? Or must I have signed up using the used dish info and I either have to accept the package or cancel service and return the new system?

@chulew,

The point of the $99 reservation is to get you "on the list". To my knowledge, there has never been any commitment by SpaceX to lock in pricing at the time of the reservation. Once Starlink becomes available for a customer in the reservation queue, they are offered the opportunity to purchase the Starlink kit at the then current price.

If you pursue the scenario you described above, you will be cancelling your service and starting new service with no guarantees on being able to start up service with the "used" unit.

When you return your equipment, your service will be cancelled... and you'll have to get back in the queue. Your service is tied to the Starlink kit shipped to you by Starlink. You could by a used kit from someone and have the seller transfer it to you, but that process has recently been overhauled by Starlink because it was previously unreliable.
