VFRguy
Good day, My Starlink system survived another wind and rain storm last night, but my mesh router won't perform a factory reset. I reset the main router and selected a new name. I also reinstalled my starlink app and performed the plug-unplug routine on the mesh numerous times. My phone wifi shows the mesh is operating and trying to connect to the old Starlink name, but won't reset. The app can't find the mesh node in the Starlink app. Any suggestions? RicochetStarlink
"... performed teh plug-unplug routine on teh mesh..." A factory reset requires plugging and unplugging the power cord 6+ times as fast as possible. Is this what you are describing?
VFRguy
No - three times. I will try six.
VFRguy
That worked - thank you very much. Starlink needs to update their manuals. The install guides all say three times.
RicochetStarlink
First of all, glad to hear my suggestion did the trick. It was just a guess, though one based on my own experience. Secondly, you aren't wrong, @VFRguy... Things are slowly, but steadily improving with Starlink and Starlink Support. I keep reminding myself of a few things... Starlink is a startup company. So, they have ALL the growing pains of a new organization. Starlink's technology is completely new (i.e., nobody else has ever done this before). So, they have ALL the pains of developing a new technology. Starlink has experienced explosive demand and growth for their Internet service and, consequently, the hardware that powers it. Suffice it to say, nobody had a clue it would be THIS popular. When you put all of that together, it's amazing that the company hasn't imploded from all the stress that these things imply. As consumers, we like dealing with mature companies who have mature products that are readily available and who have a telephone support line where we can gritch to another human when something doesn't go the way we expected. Starlink might be there in another 10-15 years... but not yet. 😉
