Starlink - moving to another country

We are currently in WV USA.  Have copper DSL but between the power outages and the service issues, I'm considering switching to Starlink.

But we plan on moving to El Salvador in 2024, where I definitely plan on using Starlink.

I work from home and will continue to do so remotely from ES.  We plan on renting in ES and, from my understanding, Starlink wants an NIT number to purchase in ES.  Not a problem, but it could mean several weeks to months delay in getting established, getting the NIT, and then placing the order and waiting for delivery.

If I could move my dish to El Salvador, and basically have service as soon as I set it up on arrival, it would definitely make sense to buy now and move the dish/service with us.

However, if we can't transfer it easily, I'm not sure it makes sense to buy now and have to transfer it to whoever buys our current house, or have to try to sell the dish on ebay or FB marketplace.  I'm guessing I could definitely do this with the global mobility program at $200/month.  Is it possible to set up with permanent residential service now, turn upglobal mobility for a few months, then turn it back down to residential once established in El Salvador in a permanent location?

I'd ask Starlink these questions but I can't do anything on the site until I create an account, which means buying the equipment.

Buy a Starlink Kit now with the Standard Residential service plan. Before you move, upgrade to the Global Mobility plan. It will cost you more on a monthly basis, but you should be able to take your Starlink Kit to El Salvador. Once you get the NIT business settled, switch back from Global Mobility to Standard service in El Salvador.

Now, this plan is theoretically possible -- assuming I understand Starlink's rules correctly.

Might I suggest that you email StarlinkResolutions@spacex.com, pose your question and my recommendation above and see what they say? It will likely be a week or two before Starlink Support responds.

HTH!
