Issues with Apple Mail not connecting via Starlink

Recommended Posts

I’ve been using Starlink at home for about a month now, and everything has been working fine until last week. Suddenly, I can’t connect to my usual email accounts (across several domains) using Apple Mail (MB air M1)—neither sending nor receiving emails.

However, if I change my location to my office (outside of my home) or use at home the personal HotSpot from my iPhone (4G/5G), everything works as usual.
This leads me to believe that the issue is definitely with the Starlink connection.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

• Whitelisting the IP on my mail server.

• Changing the DNS settings on my network from 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) to default and also tried 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS), but neither worked.

• Restarting the Starlink router—still no difference.

I’ve noticed others reporting similar issues online, but I haven’t found a solution yet.

Has anyone experienced this or found a fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Unless you have a business account, your IP address is pretty volatile. Whitelisting may or may not help at all.

DNS is not likely the problem here.

Did you restart or reset your router? Try resetting it... instructions, if needed, can be found searching this forum.

What email client are you using? Apple macOS Mail? Outlook? Something else?

Are you using a VPN?
