Guest
I am planning on getting Starlink but I was wondering if there is any latency improvement compared to other conventional ISP. Does anybody have Starlink Internet that could do a quick test, please? If you live in the US, would you please ping any IP address from Australia or Singapore and share the results? Or if you live in Australia or Singapore, would you please be able to ping any IP address from the US and share the results here? Thanks, heaps guys! Have a lovely day :)
Guest
This is from northern Arizona to an Exetel server in Sydney.
StarlinkLeader
Your looking at between 60-120ms. It will get smaller as sats increase laser backhaul between each other instead of using ground stations for immediate uplink.

I think it was blocked by the forum maybe? Could you please it again? Appreciate your help!

Would 60-120ms be a one-way ping or this ping is already bidirectional? Thank you lots for your reply!
ProDishy
Ping latency is both ways. ( bidirectional ) of course that depends on routing from the server that your connecting too. Eventually ground station routing will be a bit more efficient. Would love to see BGP running up in space but I don't think it will be happening between sats ( not yet at least afaik )
KevinM
i seem to be having excessive latency in the 90s range and am trying to figure out how to reduce that. I've watched multiple videos on youtube of people with Starlink who are getting latency in the 30 ms range.
