How to become a Starlink Reseller
RicochetStarlink replied to Michael Mondzelewski's topic in General Starlink
-
While it is clear that Starlink has both Authorized Commercial Resellers and Authorized Commercial Retailers, the process to become one seems shrouded in secrecy. I have looked for the information you are requesting. If you do a search on "Starlink Authorized Reseller" or "Starlink Partner Program", you'll find links to a bunch sites with posts that supposedly tell you how to do become a Reseller. They all say something to the effect of "Contact Starlink, sign up as a reseller, and then you can resell." Sadly, none that I have found contain actual contact information for the Starlink Reseller program. You can start by reaching out to Starlink Support...

Probably... But I wouldn't take the word of anyone other than Starlink Support on this...

throughput is between two networks connected via starlink
RicochetStarlink replied to geostar's topic in General Starlink
@geostar, it doesn't work like you think. First of all, unless you have a Starlink Business account with a dedicated IP address, a site-to-site connection isn't likely to work over two Starlink connections unless you can figure out how to set up a VPN connection -- probably through a non-Starlink host somewhere on the Internet. MAYBE you could get it to work if you are savvy enough to configure a private site-to-site VPN between the two locations, but that is not something I've done. This is because Starlink uses something call Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CG-NAT) that makes it almost impossible to reach a Starlink client from the Internet. Basically, ALL Internet traffic from a Starlink system to ANY other system takes the following path. From the Router/Dishy to the Starlink satellite From the Starlink satellite back to to the Starlink ground station to which the satellite is connected. From the Starlink ground station to a Starlink POP (Point of Presence). This may not happen if the ground station itself IS a POP. From the POP, the data traffic can be router to wherever it needs to go on the Internet. Theoretically, if the destination were another system connected to a different Starlink Kit, the steps above would happen (in reverse order). Long story short, even if it is possible to get this kind of connection between two computer on separate Starlink connections, the traffic is gonna go through the process outlined above on both ends which means your data will travel the Internet and, potentially , be vulnerable to a hacker. -
Need Terminal Id or Kit number
RicochetStarlink replied to Julia's topic in Starlink Troubleshooting & Questions
The Kit number can be found... On the ORIGINAL Starlink boxes, if you have them Engraved on the antenna mast towards the bottom -- take a picture with your phone and zoom in for best results. 🙂 Once you have the Kit number, everything should go according to plan... assuming that the transfer completed properly. If you encounter any issues, contact Starlink Support. -
A factory reset will not (or should not) affect the accounts connected to the Starlink system. To transfer ownership of the Starlink Kit, the original owner must login to the Starlink app or Web site and initiate the transfer of ownership to you. After that process is complete -- they'll have to tell you when it shows complete on their account -- you can attach the Starlink Kit to your account using the Starlink app or Web site. If this process does not happen, you are in for a rough road to claim and use your Starlink system. You DO NOT want to go there. As for a factory reset, well, that's up to you. Personally, I would do this on a used Starlink System just to be sure I know how it is configured... for WiFi and LOTS of other things. 🙂 If you have trouble with the transfer process, contact Starlink Support:

Starlink stopped working
RicochetStarlink replied to SJF's topic in Starlink Troubleshooting & Questions
Above, @RDW said "disk", but I believe he/she intended to say "dish" Putting your Starlink system on a UPS (battery back-up) is ALWAYS a good idea. Get a cheap one at your favorite big box store (Walmart? Costco? Sam's Club? Best Buy? etc...) I agree that the Starlink Router and Dishy should always be powered on. Updates happen... regularly. If you turn your system off, you could be facing a long delay due to several updates being applied on the next power-up. Again, @RDW said "disk", but I believe he/she intended to say "dish" I'm not sure about stowing and unstowing the Dishy using the app. You also have the option to reboot only the Dishy using the app. I'd try that instead... Long story short, your Router and/or Dishy ma ybe in the midst of one or more software updates... This can take a while (up to several hours), particularly if the system has been powered off for a while and there are multiple updates to be processed. I try to avoid turning off the power on my Starlink Router & Dishy. If I MUST cycle the power, I prefer to do that in the late night or early morning hours (12AM-4AM), if at all possible. My advice... Don't turn the antenna/router off for long periods of time. Apparently, this can REALLY elongate the time required for the update process on power-up. If you have issues after powering up the Starlink Router / Dishy, leave it alone for 12-24 hours. Give it some time to update everything and get settled in. You can check it every hour, if you want and it might be ready to go in 30 minutes or 1 hour... or 3-4 hours. Once everything is connected and stable (i.e., you can connect to the Internet), all should be well. -
Mac Mail intermittent with Starlink
RicochetStarlink replied to JimB's topic in Starlink Troubleshooting & Questions
Most likely, this is due to an intermitted network connection failure. This is going to happen with ANY ISP, but might be a bit more regular and/or noticeable with a satellite-based service like Starlink. On your Mac... Tell the email app to check again Restart the email app I'm a long-time Mac user (ca. mid-2009), but I'm not a a fan at all of the Mac email app. I've never found it usable or reliable. I use Webmail for both GMail and Proton Mail... for all kinds of reasons, but mostly because the email providers web app give me the best experience without all the local app upgrade hassles... Just saying... -
Starlink Router... Have you split the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks? If not, do so. Desktop PC... WiFI or wired Ethernet connection to Starlink? If WiFi, is on the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz frequency. If 2.4Ghz, see the note about the router above. Operating system? (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc) Make and model How long have you had it?

Starlink is blokcking one of myt devices
RicochetStarlink replied to yogitras's topic in Starlink Troubleshooting & Questions
If you server has an IP address outside any of your networks, then the Starlink Router is probably NOT routing any traffic to it because... it is not on the known Starlink networks... 😉 Sadly, there is no custom routing table you can configure with the Starlink Router to allow this kind of routing... whether you are connected by WiFI or an Ethernet Cable... and without IP Leases (a non-feature of the Starlink Router), I don't know of any way to "nail" the IP address of your server. -

Blacklisting/ curating unwanted devices from the network
RicochetStarlink replied to RCduno's topic in Starlink Howto's
No, MAC filtering is not supported by the Starlink router. -
Changing the 802.11 mode on the gen2 router
RicochetStarlink replied to Tom's topic in Starlink Howto's
No, I don't think so. -
Starlink does not support 6GHz. It supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Many have reported that splitting the 5GHz and 2.4GHz networks in the mobile app helps with 2.4GHz WiFi performance.

Please help me with the Obstruction test
RicochetStarlink replied to Annie's topic in Starlink Troubleshooting & Questions
Sadly, no one can answer that question for you. If you use the Starlink mobile app on your phone (iOS or Android), it should tell you if the obstructions are significant enough to cause an issue. FWIW, I don't see any attachments to your message...- 1 reply

Starlink is blokcking one of myt devices
RicochetStarlink replied to yogitras's topic in Starlink Troubleshooting & Questions
Are you certain that the IP address for the server has not changed? I don't think there is any way to create a DHCP lease for individual clients. Normally, this is how you would guarantee that the IP Address for a device doesn't change, but I don't think this is possible with the Starlink WiFi router setup. -

I don't think I understand what you are asking here. Are you wanting to connect devices site-to-site on the two Starlink networks over Starlink? -
Help with Multiple Router and hardwire set up
RicochetStarlink replied to drw930's topic in General Starlink
It sounds like this should work just fine! -
If you have a 3rd party router installed and working, I must assume that you already have the Starlink Ethernet Adapter connected to your router. If you are not using the Starlink Router's WiFi network, you can put it into bypass mode in the mobile app. This will keep the Starlink WiFi signal from interfering with your 3rd party router.

@Tinani Kabudura, That is a question that has been asked by many. However, there is no reliable information available anywhere on the Internet. I suggest you contact Starlink Support.
